Most of these controllers have a cut out there for lighting that makes them especially susceptible to warping over time. Notes: this unit is the very early type that has a completely solid plastic housing above horizontal sliders it unlighted, only one I have ever found like.

There is a hairline crack in the part of plastic housing that extends outward from right side, hardly noticeable but see 2nd picture for close-up. The blower motor switch needs to be replaced.
