Pros of buying (1964 GTO NOs GM 1965 Pontiac Ignition Switch for Lemans/Tempest):1. Originality: This is a NOS (New Old Stock) part, meaning it's an original part that was never used or installed in a vehicle. This can be beneficial for collectors or those looking for an authentic restoration.
2. Quality: NOS parts are often in excellent condition due to being stored properly and never used. This can lead to better performance and reliability.
3. Availability: NOS parts are often harder to find than used parts, but they can be a good option if you're looking for something specific and can't find a used part in good condition.
Cons of buying (1964 GTO NOs GM 1965 Pontiac Ignition Switch for Lemans/Tempest):1. Price: NOS parts can be more expensive than used parts due to their rarity and desirability. This can be a significant investment, especially for collectors or those on a tight budget.
2. Compatibility: While this part is designed for 1964 GTOs and 1965 Lemans/Tempests, there's always a chance that it may not fit perfectly or work perfectly with your specific vehicle. It's always a good idea to double-check compatibility before making a purchase.
3. Time: NOS parts may take longer to ship due to their rarity and the fact that they're often shipped from a different location. This can be a drawback if you're in a hurry to get your car back on the road.
Conclusion: If you're looking for an original, high-quality ignition switch for your 1964 GTO or 1965 Lemans/Tempest and are willing to pay a premium for it, then buying a NOS part may be a good option for you. However, if you're on a tight budget or are looking for a more affordable option, then you may want to consider buying a used part instead.
Recommendation: Before making a purchase, be sure to double-check compatibility to ensure that the part will fit your vehicle properly. Also, be sure to shop around to find the best price and to make sure you're getting a reputable seller. It's always a good idea to read reviews and check ratings to make sure you're getting a quality product.
The was a different design. I tested it in my 67 and it works fine.
I have since acquired an nos lighted switch for my 67, thus I no longer have any use for this one, but figured someone doing a proper restoration of a 64 or 65 goat could use it. The original packaging is included and is in good shape. It is in great nos condition and was part of a large Pontiac nos lot I bought for a 1967 Gto I was restoring.
This is a very nice piece and is definitely a must for that concourse restoration.
I am including as a bonus an original tumbler for a switch with a key. I am listing a genuine Gm oem 6 pin ignition switch for a Pontiac Gto, Lemans or tempest non A/C car which was made in the USA.
After getting the car phis documented I discovered it came equipped with a lamp group that included a lighted ignition switch. This piece is correct for a 64 and 65 Gto, but will work in a Gto, Lemans or tempest as well.
